Celebration of the Triumphant Return of the Hong Kong, China Delegation from the 18th Asian Games cum Flag Presentation Ceremony of the Hong Kong, China Delegation to the 3rd Summer Youth Olympic Games

Hong Kong, 17 September 2018 – Hong Kong, China Delegation returned from 18th Asian Games (AG) in Jakarta and Palembang, Indonesia held from 18 August to 2 September, bringing home a record high of 46 medals, including 8 Gold, 18 Silver, 20 Bronze and ranked 13th in the Games’ medal tally.

Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (SF&OC) organized the Welcome Home Reception for the 18th AG Delegation today. VIPs included the Hon. Mrs. Carrie LAM CHENG Yuet-ngor, GBM, GBS, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the Hon. Mr. LAU Kong-wah, JP, Secretary for Home Affairs of Home Affairs Bureau, Mr. Timothy T.T. FOK, GBS, JP, President of SF&OC and Mr. Herman S. M. HU, SBS, JP, Chef de Mission of the Hong Kong, China Delegation to the 18th AG. The officiating guests also presented certificates to the medallists as commendation for their outstanding achievements in the Games.

On the same occasion, the Flag Presentation Ceremony was also held for the Hong Kong, China Delegation taking part in the 3rd Summer Youth Olympic Games (YOG) in Buenos Aires, Argentina next month. The Bauhinia Flag was presented by the Hon. Mrs. Carrie LAM CHENG Yuet-ngor, GBM, GBS, accompanied by the Hon. Mr. LAU Kong-wah, JP, to Mr. Timothy T.T. FOK, GBS, JP and Mr. WONG Po Kee, MH, Chef de Mission of the Hong Kong, China Delegation to the 3rd YOG , representing the blessing and support from all guests and the Hong Kong people to the Delegation.

The 3rd YOG will be held in Buenos Aires, Argentina from 6 to 18 October 2018. Nearly 200 countries or regions’ delegations will come together to participate in 32 sports and there will be a record of 25 Hong Kong, China athletes taking part in 9 medal events, includes:  Aquatics – Swimming, Athletics, Beach Handball, Equestrian – Jumping, Fencing, Rowing, Sailing – Windsurfing, Table Tennis and Triathlon. Mr. CHAN Ming Tai, one of the Young Change-Makers of the 3rd YOG, will accompany with the Delegation to Buenos Aires, at the time off the sports field, encouraging our athletes to participate in various educational and cultural activities that promote the values of Olympic – RESPECT, FRIENDSHIP, and EXCELLENCE.

A dedicated web page https://2018yog.hkolympic.org for the Hong Kong, China Delegation to the 3rd YOG has been developed for sharing the Games’ information and competition results of the athletes to the public. Besides, Games information will be released through our mobile App namely “SFOC” for both Android and iOS version and SF&OC Facebook Page.
